Or “I’m already running out of meal ideas!”
I am sharing my daily struggles/successes/messes of a 7 Day Shop the Pantry Challenge where I attempt to create all meals from food we already have in our home. You can read the original post about this challenge here.
Today I made Boy 2 very happy. He was thrilled to have Cinnamon Raisin Bread on his plate after being horrified by days of breakfasts that included muffins (he hates muffins….crazy cakes!),
As a parent, seeing your kids smile with true happiness is a wonderful thing. All mommies and daddies know this. But seeing my kids’ excitement over something as simple as their favorite meal/treat/dessert being made just for them? They feel so special and loved and that just makes my heart happy!
Kids don’t always need expensive outings or toys to feel loved and important. Sometimes a special homemade breakfast is all it takes to start their day off right.
Day 5 Meal Plan
Breakfast: Boy 2’s beloved Cinnamon Raisin Bread was the main event. I make this bread in my Magic Chef Bread Machine. My grandma found that beast of a machine at a garage sale for me so I don’t even know how old it is. Best $5 present ever! This yummy bread could easily be made by hand or with a mixer if you don’t have a bread machine.
Lunch: Sometimes I get tired of making meal decisions for everyone else. If you’re a parent or a caregiver, do you ever feel that way? I let the boys pick their lunch since I didn’t want to make 5,000,001 decisions by noon. They requested hot dogs and I happened to have a package left over from our annual Father’s Day shindig. I paired them with veggies and fruit per our usual.
Dinner: We were starting to get overrun with leftovers from the last few nights and I totally didn’t want to cook. How convenient to have the leftovers! In our house, we call it “Must Go Night” because that stuff. must. go!
The pantry is running low on my normal items that I’d normally use to make a spur-of-the-moment dinner. But I’m stubborn so I know I can make it two more days!
Do you ever get tired of making the “What Are We Going To Eat” decision?
