How To Make Your Own Rose Petal Body Scrub

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN ROSE PETAL BODY SCRUB!

I’ve never been a big fan of commercial body scrubs. They always feel harsh on my sensitive skin (I turn bright red!) and they usually have a strange, fake smell that irritates my nose. Body scrubs are about pampering….not sneezing.

I did find a few organic, but kind of pricey, sugar scrub versions that worked for me. But after I looked at the ingredient list? I realized “I have most of that stuff in my kitchen! Can I just make my own scrub?!”

Yes, yes you can! And it’s kind of fun! You can even change up the recipe, the scent, and the consistency to whatever you like. The options are endless!

I needed this scrub desperately. My hands resemble sandpaper recently and always feel dry no matter how much lotion I use. It finally dawned on me that I’d been out of scrub for a while and these scaly hands probably needed a good exfoliation to feel better!

Since Mr DIY got me some pretty roses for Valentine’s Day, I decided a Rose Petal Body Scrub was in order. We’re all about using what you already have. Waste not, want not, right?

I don’t care if it’s cliche, I love me some roses on Valentine’s Day!

Besides their beautiful fragrance, roses can actually benefit the skin. Roses contain Vitamin C which can rejuvenate the skin and prevent future damage. Their natural oils can help add moisture and also have some anti-inflammatory properties (source). Sounds like the perfect addition to help my parched skin.

I also used honey for it’s humectant properties (meaning it draws water from the air and into the skin) and Vitamin E because it is moisturizing and helps preserve the scrub. You don’t have to use either of these extras if you don’t have them. You will still have a great scrub!

Making your own natural, skin nurturing scrub couldn’t be easier. Just combine your sugar and rose petals into a food processor or blender. Pulse until petals are finely chopped then add oil, Vitamin E, and any essential oils you may like. I used just a touch of Lavender Essential Oil because it complements the rose so well. Process until fully combined and store in a jar or container with a lid.

Use approximately 2 times per week for naturally soft skin!
